/CommuniTEA Catchup with Elaine MacLeod from The Peace Preactice: What Is Reiki Healing?
Wouldn’t you love it if you could make it to CommuniTEA every week!?
We get it , life gets in the way and next thing you know Monday has come and gone and you missed your fave Perth wellness Queen giving her inspo talk.
Don’t worry! At Clear Mind Studio we’ve got your back!
CommuniTEA Catchup is a summery of what went down at CommuniTEA and how you can contact the host to find out more!
- What Is Reiki?
I first connected with Elaine via Instagram a good few months before Clear Mind Studio opened.
The first time I met her face to face, I could really feel her energy and I knew she was someone special.
Elaine hosted a CommuniTEA event back in August 2019 entitled: What Is Reiki Healing?
She taught us the history of Reiki, what Reiki is and how it works. During the session Elaine facilitated a meditation with the community and I think everyone who was there on the night can agree that they felt Elaine’s powers!
Reiki is a natural therapy that originated in Japan in the 1920’s. It is a technique used for relaxation and stress reduction, based on a ‘life force energy’ that flows through us. If our energy is low or blocked, we are more likely to feel stressed and get sick. If our energy is flowing at a high level we are happy and healthy. Reiki can be used for: Helping to activate the relaxation response, relieving exhaustion and overwhelm and promoting stress relief.
1. What do you do, and why do you do it?
I have a small business in North Perth called The Peace Practice. I am a Reiki Master Practitioner/Reiki Teacher and a Meditation guide.
The combination of working with Reiki and having a regular meditation practice of my own has been the catalyst for huge personal growth and change.
I was drawn to learning Reiki through experiencing a series of very difficult life circumstances that I was struggling to cope with.
These situations were at times very traumatic and overwhelming and I initially learnt the practice as a coping skill to keep myself calm and balanced.
I found the teachings so helpful I now bring these tools into practice in my daily life.
This has helped me view things differently and over time gave me a profound shift in perspective, helping me to find a sense of peace in my life – regardless of the outside circumstances.
This new way of thinking, living and being inspires me to keep walking this path now, and also to share the teachings, in the hope they may benefit others in the same way.
2. Who inspires you?
I love the work of the intuitive channel, Micheila Sheldan. I have followed her workshop teachings for around 5 years now and they have offered me so much.
I love Leonard Cohen, his music, his poetry and how his soul still vibrates here even though he has now passed.
My very good friend Debbie-Ann Scott who has the ability to find gold and sunshine in every situation, she never ceases to amaze me!
3. What’s your favourite inspirational quote?
Maybe more sensible than inspirational but my favourite adopted quote is one My Father in Law used to say:
“A Ton of worry doesn’t do an ounce of good.”
And he used to say it very quietly, but firmly, in a thick Scottish accent so it also sounded like ancient wisdom!
4. What are your values and passions?
I value living through the heart and I strive to view life from here. From this space I value compassion, non-judgment, gratitude, integrity and love.
I am passionate about seeing a heart centred world develop as a reality and contributing at a personal level to that shift in humanity.
5. Can you give me a brief summary of what you talked about at CommuniTEA?
I talked about the Japanese Energy Therapy of Reiki. What is Reiki? What Reiki does, how Reiki works and then presented a short mediation bringing through the energy of Reiki to those who attended.
6. What do you have planned for 2020
This year, I moved The Peace Practice forward into teaching Reiki with my first training (held at Clear Mind Studio) in August and it was so well received that I plan now to extend the teaching platform over 2020.
I am establishing a programme I’ve titled (yes I know it’s odd! but I do love the name!) The School of The Fantastic Realm. This programme will initially offer all levels of Reiki training, Beginners Meditation and down the track, various Mediation and Personal Growth/Development sessions.
7. Where can the Clear Mind community find you/ get in contact with you
